What is Electrostatic Cleaning?

Electrostatic cleaning or electrostatic spraying is a process of spraying an electrostatically charged solution onto surfaces… The sanitizing solution works to sanitize the covered surfaces. This is why electrostatic spraying is an excellent solution for disinfecting contaminated areas. Learn More…

Electrostatic disinfecting coats a surface with a disinfecting mist. This is achieved with an electrostatic applicator that applies a negative charge to the mist as it exits the nozzle. The charged molecules repel each other, making sure they will be an even distance from each other, and it is attracted to the applied surface. The charged particles have a stronger charge greater than gravity. This allows them to target a surface quickly allowing room reentry almost immediately.

In simple terms, electrostatic disinfecting works by charging a solution so it electromagnetically sticks to a targeted surface, providing 360-degree coverage of the targeted object.

Most surfaces are neutral, therefore an electrostatic disinfecting system provides a negative charge to the mist solution which will be attracted to the surface with a different polarity. It’s similar to how the automotive industry can evenly and accurately spray paint onto cars.

Harmful pathogens will live on surfaces for days, and generally doubles every 20 minutes with the right food source and temperature. This gives ample opportunity for cross contamination. Conventional cleaning services and traditional disinfecting does a good job of managing a microbiological load on common surfaces.  Although, the flexibility of modern pathogens means we need to have new strategies for reducing cross contamination in many types of facilities and businesses well beyond what we have become accustom to. Electrostatic disinfecting provides an effective approach to completely disinfecting a surface area and an entire room like we have never seen before.

Conventional cleaning methods are a great first step in disinfecting, although  it is simply impossible to disinfect every square inch of a surface area in this way. Not only is it an expensive method in terms of labor, but it is also not realistic. Germs and bacteria spread deep into hard-to-reach areas faster than we can find them and wipe them away. In fact, colonies of bacteria and viruses are hiding in areas that we cannot see or access with any traditional methods or equipment.

Imagine trying to sanitize and disinfect all the nooks and crannies of a hospital, including all the wheelchairs, walkers, beds and medical equipment. Think about all the offices with a vast array of hard-to-reach areas that are potentially covered in pathogenic bacteria, such as desks, keyboards, and phones — just to name a few! We disinfect surfaces in order to have a positive impact on the overall health of a facility.

Electrostatic disinfection is an effective solution that healthcare and public infection control has been searching for. Electrostatics provides a solution that can effectively protect the public from community based pathogens. We can also assist facilities that are building out infection control programs, because of the evolution that microbiology continues to offer. Successful infection control programs rely on the right tools to manage the health of any facility.

First we spray the mist to the surfaces, making sure to cover all areas and keep it wet for the recommended dwell time. The time it takes to kill or disinfect is different for different solutions, but the average is about five minutes for bacteria, and just under five minutes for viruses. With electrostatic spraying no wiping is needed as it is with traditional cleaning procedures, but it is better to spray a freshly cleaned area than a dirty area. And it’s non toxic and safe for all surfaces including electronics.

Electrostatic disinfection is not a lasting protective barrier. But it disinfects by killing unwanted pathogens from every targeted surface, but won’t protect those surfaces from becoming infected again.

That being said, institutions like medical facilities, schools and gyms may require electrostatic disinfection more frequently because they are introduced to new, potentially harmful pathogens on a daily basis.

However, While standard electrostatic sanitizing kill germs quickly and effectively, as we mentioned they are not long lasting. New research is pleased to announce that they’ve developed a nano coating that kills viruses, bacteria and fungi with more than 99.9999% efficiency on contact, including COVID-19 and is long-lasting.

.
Yes. Electrostatic disinfection is safe and can be applied around electronics such as laptops, monitors and keyboards as long as it is not applied at close range directly on to the electronics. We suggest covering any paper documents, or anything you don’t want sprayed before our scheduled service.
