What is VCT Stripping & Sealing?
VCT stripping, sealing & refinishing is a process of removing a layer or layers of existing finish and sealer, and then cleaning, resealing & refinishing which is waxing the surface. Depending on the level of the condition of the floor, this can involve the removal of just a few of the top layers, and then applying a new top layer. Or a full strip, seal & wax involves the complete removal, resealing & re-waxing of all layers. With regular maintenance programs the application of a new top layer is an in between maintenance step to prolong the finish. When the finish builds up and you start to see discoloring and wear patterns, performing a full strip, seal & refinish of the vinyl floor is necessary. The amount of foot traffic is usually a determining factor in the scheduling of the type of cleaning and maintenance you’ll need for your vinyl flooring.
